Having resolved to give up resolutions I’m instead making a vain attempt to set three rough and badly thought out goals for the week’s attempt at writing before 52 of the 7-day annoyances go by and all I’ve done is a few forum posts and some facebook activities. If you’re reading this feel free to join me, post your results if you’re brave. If you’re not reading this, well then your mother was a hamster, your father smelt of elderberries and all your goats are loose in the paddock (and a chronic Python addiction probably shows why I need discipline to write).
For this week;
1) Pick a character of your own creation and answer the following questions.
What would your character like to throw away and why? (could be an object, memory or person)
What is your character’s greatest treasure?
Has your character got a memory he/she would like to forget?
Do they have a secret? Is it a guilty secret or a secret pleasure and is it a big or small secret? How would he/she feel if it came out?
(idea shamelessly borrowed from Writers’ Forum)
2) Write a tweet-length story, so using 140 characters or less.
3) Submit an entry to any writing competition.
Right, have done as requested to the best of my abilities so here we go…
ReplyDelete1) The character involved in these questions is a woman called Bianca;
What would your character like to throw away and why?
Her father; to be frank he left her mother when she was only a wee one and keeps making appearances in her life, especially since her sixteenth birthday. She had gotten used to life without him and now that he keeps on making an appearance she references him to a bad cold (as in she’s love have a cure for him but that’s not bloody likely).
What is your character’s greatest treasure?
A toy dog she’s had for as long as she can remember. It may be old, dirty and probably full of disease or whatever, but she’s loved it for so many years it’s a treasure to her.
Has your character got a memory he/she would like to forget?
A secret she’d never reveal to her partner; she cheated on him the one time, it’s a memory she always regretted but she plans for her partner never to find out.
Do they have a secret? Is it a guilty secret or a secret pleasure and is it a big or small secret? How would he/she feel if it came out?
Secrets are meant to be kept to oneself, thusly she’d never reveal them to anyone, even her boyfriend. Yet if it must be known, a fact that she edited her GCSE results in able to get into immediate A-Levels would not be welcomed lightly—not that it mattered too much in the long-haul, having studied hard to cope with the A-Levels and thusly getting positive grades at the end of the year.
2) Tweet-length ‘story’:
This tale involves that of a man called Joseph, he was married ten years ago but his wife was killed; now he’s married to her best friend.
(Characters: 138.)
3) Coming soon… (looking for an appropriate competition to enter THEN need to write up summat!)
